About Us

Why we exist

Flock Theatre Ensemble is a catalyst for change.

We are fuelled by a desire to bring the voices of women from the periphery to the fore, repositioning female narratives, both in terms of what, by whom and how our stories are told.

What we do

We are more than a theatre company, we are a movement.

We develop female artists, equipping them to make their own work to change the face of theatre, rather than reflect its current inequalities.

Using our own unique process we create and perform work for both new and established audiences. From this we intend to publish brand new scripts which will act as a resource for other theatre companies and training institutions who struggle to source material with strong female roles at their heart.

How we work

We are a devising company with an emphasis on physicality and visual magic. We use a rigorous process of making that is both company and individual-led, involving provocations (catalysts for research and devising set by the artistic director for the individual actors), research and rehearsal to produce work of the highest quality.

Our work is political and playful, innovative and rigorous, open and challenging, collaborative and personal, confronting and delighting, physical and emotive.
